Goals from Tahvon Campbell (2), Junior Morias and Luke McCormick gave the Glovers a commanding win and ensured the 203 travelling supporters had plenty to celebrate on a memorable night.
Dryden, who had taken interim charge prior to Danny Webb’s short-lived tenure, returned to the dugout as manager following Webb’s departure after just one match. With Jerry Gill alongside him as assistant, he made three changes from the defeat at Tamworth, handing starts to Morias, Campbell and Andrew Oluwabori.
Aldershot began on the front foot with Archy Taylor and Josh Barrett both firing efforts narrowly wide, while Kwame Thomas brought a routine save from Jed Ward. But Yeovil quickly seized control.
On 11 minutes, Morias forced Marcus Dewhurst into a parry and Campbell reacted sharply to fire in the rebound via the post. Just 10 minutes later, the Glovers doubled their lead when Oluwabori’s hold-up play set up Morias, who cut inside and drove a low shot into the net.
The visitors were rampant and soon had a third. Cousin-Dawson’s pinpoint pass sent McCormick surging through midfield, and the captain finished calmly to make it 3–0 after just 25 minutes.
Yeovil continued to create chances, with Oluwabori causing constant problems down the flanks, but the score remained 3–0 at the interval.
Half Time: Aldershot Town 0-3 Yeovil Town
The Glovers continued to press after the restart. Morias curled just wide before being replaced by Pendleton as Dryden looked to keep the intensity high.
Oluwabori again proved too hot to handle, breaking down the left and squaring for Campbell, who shot over from close range. Minutes later, Yeovil had a golden opportunity when James Plant was fouled in the box. Campbell stepped up to the spot and confidently sent Dewhurst the wrong way to make it 4–0 on 62 minutes.
Greenslade replaced Sims soon after and was quickly involved, though he was booked for simulation after going down under Dewhurst’s challenge. With the points secure, Dryden was able to rest Oluwabori and Plant for Whittle and Wodskou in the closing stages.
Aldershot grabbed a stoppage-time consolation when James Henry’s strike found the net through a crowded box. Taylor then forced Ward into a fine save, but the outcome was already decided.
Full-Time: Aldershot Town 1-4 Yeovil Town
Scorers:
Aldershot Town – James Henry (90+1′)
Yeovil Town – Tahvon Campbell (11′, 64′), Junior Morias (21′), Luke McCormick (25′)
It was the perfect start to Dryden’s renewed reign, as Yeovil combined clinical finishing with defensive organisation to secure a resounding win. The Glovers return to Huish Park this weekend to face Altrincham, buoyed by a performance that suggests real momentum under their reinstated manager.
