Speaking after the match, Glovers boss Mark Cooper explained the reasoning behind the decision to adjust the dimensions:

“We had the biggest pitch in the league by a long, long way. So we wanted to make it a little bit smaller to give us a chance to be a little more front foot and to be able to really get after the opposition and into their faces.”

The change in size is part of a wider tactical approach for the upcoming National League season. By reducing the amount of ground to cover, the team aims to press higher and with greater intensity, making Huish Park an even more difficult place for visiting teams.

The revised dimensions are fully compliant with league regulations and were carefully considered in consultation with club staff and grounds personnel.

Supporters will have further opportunities to see the changes in action as Yeovil Town continue their preparations for the new season, with a home pre-season fixture against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
